Taking place at Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Arena from June 9 to 18, the tournament brought together more than 700 athletes from 40 teams of provinces, cities and sectors nationwide, with many faces of the national karate team and youth team. Vu Son Ha, head of karate sector of General Department of Sports, said that the tournament had a large scale and high quality. This was also the first tournament applying the new competition regulations of World Karate Federation. Through the tournament, General Department of Sports and the coach committees of the national karate team and youth team would select athletes for the national teams to prepare for the upcoming ASIAD 2023 scheduled for October in China. This was also the karate youth tournament at national level of Khanh Hoa after 14 years. The host prepared carefully and ensured good facilities for the organization of the tournament.

The teams who were strong in kata and kumite included Hanoi, Army, People's Police and Ho Chi Minh City. The competitions among the strong teams were highly competitive and exciting. At this tournament, the experts also highly appreciated the investment in youth athletes of the localities of Binh Duong, Thua Thien Hue, Dong Thap and Khanh Hoa. Two male teams of Binh Duong and Thua Thien Hue overcame strong Hanoi and Army to advance to the final match of men’s team event, age category of 18-22. Finally, five athletes of Binh Duong won 4-1 against the athletes of Thua Thien Hue and achieved the gold medal.

As for Khanh Hoa’s youth karate team, they had only set a target of helping their young athletes to have a chance to play with the players from other localities and learn experience. However, thanks to their good preparation, Khanh Hoa athletes won 7 golds, 2 silvers and 11 bronzes, finishing fifth. This was an encouraging result and would be a driving force for Khanh Hoa’s karate movement, especially among young athletes to develop further. Khanh Hoa’s karate sector is focusing on training young athletes from under 11 to under 15, including outstanding faces at the 2023 National Karate Youth Championships such as Truong Anh Kiet (gold medal of 14-15 age), Huynh Le Tuong Anh (gold medal of 12-13 age). The development of karate movement in clubs and localities has also contributed to the development of Khanh Hoa’s karate.
