Final stage of wastewater treatment plant construction accelerated

The construction of a waste water treatment plant in northern Nha Trang City and installment of mechanical equipment of a rainwater pump station under the Coastal Cities Environmental Sanitation Project (CCESP), Nha Trang Sub-Project are being accelerated to be competed and put into operation in late 2023.

According  to Nguyen Tan, construction commander of the northern water treatment plant, about 50-60 people are working continuously at  the construction site. Right next to the construction site, there are dining areas for workers far from home. The final stage of waste water treatment plant construction is being accelerated. The work has been 80% complete, according to the plan approved by the Supervision Consultant and the Provincial Development Project Management Board (the investor of the CCSEP project).

Specifically, the entire construction items have been completed, including grease tank, electricity distributor, sludge dewatering chamber, sludge storage tank, sludge pumping station, gravity concentrator tank, distribution chamber, oxygen ditch, deodorizing device stand, clean water pumping station, UV sterilization tank, grit removal and sedimentation tanks with oil and grease removal reaching 90%.

Currently, the Provincial Development Project Management Board is coordinating with the consulting unit to consider relocating some remaining items affected by site clearance. The volume of construction and installation of technological pipes, valves, pumping equipment, sludge tank and clarifier reach about 60% of the contract volume.

The construction on Nha Trang City Northern Water Treatment Plant is expected to be completed this July for trial operation and put into use by December 31. According to Ho Tan Quang, Director of the Provincial Development Project Management Board, when the reservoir project in the northern Nha Trang City with 6 satellite pumping stations to collect all wastewater from the north of the city is operated; together with the overall CCSEP project, the problem of wastewater treatment for the entire city will be solved.

In addition, the plant is expected to help ease local flooding in the northern Nha Trang City, creating a green, clean and beautiful landscape, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city and the province. When the project is completed, the Provincial Development Project Management Board will coordinate with the functional units in propaganda to mobilize residents and businesses to renovate their wastewater drainage systems with sedimentation tanks connected to the wastewater collection route to the northern wastewater treatment plant.

The bidding package for the construction of Nha Trang City northern wastewater treatment plant and the installation of mechanical equipment of the wastewater pumping stations was started on December 3, 2021. The plant has a total construction area of ​​more than 3 hectares with a processing capacity of 15,000m3/day. The package also provides and installs mechanical equipment for wastewater pumping stations under the CCSEP project. The contract is worth nearly VND300 billion.
