According to Huynh Ngoc Hai, Trong’s father, Trong was seriously injured in a road traffic accident on the way home after work in May, 2016. The truck driver who was involved in the crash fled away. Trong was brought to Cam Lam General Hospital and then was transferred to Khanh Hoa General Hospital due to his serious injuries. At the provincial General Hospital, Trong was diagnosed to sustain spinal fracture and crushed spinal cord. After the surgery, Trong has suffered paraplegia.
Trong stayed for nearly one month at Khanh Hoa General Hospital and more than three months Trong at Khanh Hoa Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital. After that, Trong’s family had to bring him home because they faced many difficulties especially when his mother was hospitalized for complications of diabetes.
Reportedly, Trong’s family lives poorly. Trong was a vehicle repairer before accident. Trong’s father is a tree trimmer, which does not earning him much. Her mother, whose health is not good, is a housewife; his older brother and sister work as hired labor with unstable income. The family had to sell two motorcycles, their most valuable assets, in order to pay the hospital bill. However, they still could not afford the treatment cost for Trong and had to borrow money from some people. The neighbors and some patrons offered supports to Trong’s family to help them with their problems.
“I wish that a miracle will help me to regain voluntary movements to lessen the difficulties of my family,” shared Trong.
