Phan Tuan Kiet (born in August 16, 2016) living in My Hoan Hamlet, Ninh Than Commune, Ninh Hoa Town (Khanh Hoa) and Le Hong Vu living on Pham Van Dong Street, Vinh Hoa Ward, Nha Trang have suffered from many serious diseases since birth.
18-months-old Phan Tuan Kiet has undergone five surgeries
Kiet has just returned home from his fifth surgeries at Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital 2. As said by his mother, Nguyen Hong Huyen, Kiet was born with three birth defects: no anus, blood infection, pneumonia. He underwent a colostomy after birth. He after that was diagnosed to have esophageal atresia Type C and was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital 2 to have treatments. Until now, Kieu has undergone five surgeries for esophageal atresia, colostomy (three times), sigmoid colon perforation, and phrenic rehabilitation.
Huyen is a nursery teacher at a private nursery school, earning an income of VND2 million per month. Her husband, Phan Thanh Nguyen, has had no stable job. He often works as a mason with an income of around VND3 million. However, it is difficult to find a work in rainy season. In order to afford treatment for their son, they borrowed VND70 million with monthly interest of VND2.1 million. Nguyen’s parents had to mortgage their house to borrow nearly VND100 million from a bank (monthly interest of over VND800 thousand) to help Kiet to continue treatments.
Reported, after each surgery, Kiet has often suffered pain during urination and defecation. Kiet needs more treatments to recover from diseases; however, his family almost cannot afford the cost of treatments. Kiet’s family wishes to receive supports from people everywhere to help Kiet to overcome diseases.
Newborn with fatal diseases
Le Hong Vu, born in January 30, 2018, is the second child of Le Hong Phuong and Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc. Vu was born with no anus, no right ear, and heart disease. The whole family of Bich is living with her parents and siblings in a rented house on Pham Van Dong Street, Vinh Hoa Ward, Nha Trang.
Bich said that her first son, Le Hong An, three years old, has no health problems. During her second pregnancy, Bich made regular prenatal check-ups and nothing abnormal detected. Born with imperforate anus, Vu underwent a surgery to have a temporary colostomy. The postoperative wound has caused the baby pain.
Before giving birth to Vu, Bich helped her mother and aunt to sell food in front of their house. Phuong, Bich’s husband, a fisherman, earns around VND250 thousand per day. In rainy season, Phuong works as a mason.
They borrowed VND45 million from the owner of the fishing boat on which Phuong has worked and VND16 million from other people with an interest rate of 10% per month. “We need to remove and replace the colostomy bag two to three times per day for the postoperative wound of Vu not to get infected. Each colostomy bag cost VND43,000 thousand. Vu will be hospitalized soon for medical follow-up,” said Bich. Reportedly, it requires multiple procedures, time and a large amount of money to repair Vu’s defects. However, due to their financial difficulty, it is very difficult for them to afford Vu’s treatment cost.
Hopefully, the readers and sponsors everywhere will offer assistance to the two little children so that they can continue their treatments.
