Vo Nguyen Ngoc Anh (born in 2011) and Vo Nguyen Hoang Nhan (born in 2015) whose father died five years ago became orphans after their mother died of serious illnesses last August. Since their mother passed away, they have had to rely on their old and sick maternal grandparents.
Their parents are Vo Duc Vuong (born in 1987) and Nguyen Thi Lap (born in 1987). Their family has a small house in Hoi Phu Bac 1 Hamlet, Ninh Phu Commune, Ninh Hoa Town. This was the fruit of the ill-fated husband and wife’s labor. Vuong and Lap worked hard, saved their earnings, and borrowed some more money from their relatives to build the house on a small plot of land of Lap’s parents. Unfortunately, in July 2015, Vuong was electrocuted to death while working under a car, leaving his young wife and two little children with many difficulties.
At that time, they didn’t pay off their debt of VND30 million which they had borrowed to build their house. Since her husband died, Lap and her children lived on her meager income of more than VND1.5 million per month from knitting rattan. The locality acknowledged the difficult circumstances of their family and classified them as a poor household in order to offer them social policy support. However, another misfortune struck their family on August 7; Lap died of acute pneumonia and severe heart failure.
Currently, Anh and Nhan are living with their maternal grandparents who are in weak health conditions, often get sick, and are incapable of working. Sympathizing with their difficult circumstances, their neighbors and some other people have offered them support to help them to cope with the difficulties.
As reported by Pham Nguyet Anh, vice chairman of Ninh Phu Commune People's Committee, when Anh and Nhan’s mother passed away, the committee visited and offered them VND2 million. The sister and brother have been given a monthly social allowance of VND900 thousand. Additionally, their maternal grandmother will be given a social allowance of VND300 thousand per month. Besides, the locality has also called for support from individuals and organizations to give them a helping hand.
There will be a lot of difficulties that the two little children have to face in the future when their grandparents get older and weaker. Therefore, through Khanh Hoa Newspaper, the local authority hopes that the sister and brother can receive support from the public.
Support can be sent to Pham Tra My who is Anh and Nhan’s aunt (phone number 0911.937.660), Khanh Hoa Newspaper office (phone number 0258.3822019) at 77 Yersin St., Nha Trang City, or Khanh Hoa Newspaper’s bank account at Vietcombank Nha Trang (account number 0581000765262).
