Khanh Hoa Newspaper presents readers’ donation of VND287.6 million to 3 paternal orphans abandoned by their mother

On April 22, Khanh Hoa Newspaper cooperated with Ninh Phung Commune People's Committee, Ninh Hoa Town to present VND287.6 million donated by readers to the three paternal orphans abandoned by their mother, Vo Thi Tra My, Vo Trung Thai and Vo Trung Hieu (Dai Cat 2 Hamlet, Ninh Phung Commune). Their circumstance was reported by Khanh Hoa Online on September 22, 2017.

In 2017, Nguyen Thi Nguyen (born in 1963), the aunt of the three children Vo Thi Tra My (born in 2007), Vo Trung Thai (born in 2008), Vo Trung Hieu (born in 2009), sent an appeal for help to Khanh Hoa Newspaper.  At that time, Nguyen could no longer afford to take care of the three siblings, who are paternal orphans abandoned by their mother. The three orphaned siblings were living together in a small, dilapidated house of around 20 square meters. Khanh Hoa Newspaper after that verified the circumstances of the 3 children and published an article to call for public help to support the children. Thanks to the article, many kindhearted people, social organizations, businesses, charity groups, etc.  gave more than VND195 million and some necessary household items such as gas stoves, rice cookers, cabinets, tables, and chairs and necessities to the 3 disadvantaged children. Besides, Khanh Hoa Lottery Company built a house of 45 square meters for the three sister and brothers with a total budget of VND50 million. 

At that time, all three children were not yet adults, so the donated money of more than VND195 million was deposited into their bank account opened by Khanh Hoa Newspaper. Up to now, the savings have reached VND287.6 million and were given to the three siblings by Khanh Hoa Newspaper.

Vo Thi Tra My was moved and expressed her and her younger brothers’ gratitude for the support from Khanh Hoa Newspaper, kindhearted people, social organizations, businesses, charity groups. She also promised to use this money for their studying and living appropriately.

Reportedly, the three sister and brothers Vo Thi Tra My, Vo Trung Thai and Vo Trung Hieu are studying at SOS Children's Village Nha Trang. According to Le Hung Nghe, director of SOS Children's Village Nha Trang, the unit has fostered the three orphans since August 2019. Currently, Vo Thi Tra My is in grade 12, Vo Trung Thai is in grade 11, and Vo Trung Hieu is in grade 9 at Hermann Gmeiner Nha Trang High School. SOS Children's Village Nha Trang continues to care for and nurture the children until they grow up and integrate into the community.
