The film begins with the introduction of poet Giang Nam about the street named Yersin. The street name has remained unchanged through the ups and downs of the national history.

Portraying Dr. Yersin as a great physician and bacteriologist venerated by Vietnamese people, the film contains many of his images and footages while he was living and working in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.

The film includes the scene of Dr. Yersin riding a bicycle in 1935 and many valuable images about the talented physician, delivering a message that the great man who devoted their life to mankind lives everlastingly in Nha Trang residents’ heart.

Kind heart alive for ever

Dr. Yersin was an eminent intellectual who had a profound influence on Nha Trang residents and his death left much grievousness and missing for the local people.

Director Pham Viet Tung says Dr. Yersin deserves the film, which depicts his outstanding devotion to public health and the simple life in Nha Trang. Besides, the physician’s affection for Nha Trang residents is also highlighted.

The film explains partly the reasons why Dr. Yersin, a foreigner, is loved and highly respected by Nha Trang residents. The man was the first principal of Hanoi Medical University where many excellent physicians and scientists, including Ton That Tung, Dang Van Ngu, Ho Dac Di and many more graduated from.

Pasteur Institute, located on Tran Phu Street, is dedicated to the life of Yersin, the scientist remembered as the co-discoverer of the bacillus responsible for the bubonic plague.

Director Pham Viet Tung says, "When studying the life and career of Dr. Yersin, I find that he has a strong attachment to Nha Trang, where he devoted nearly half of his life."
