With his emotional photo "Rainy Afternoon", the Vietnamese photographer Truong Minh Dien overcame the other photographers from around the world to win the Grand Prize of the CGAP Photo Contest 2013.
With his emotional photo “Rainy Afternoon”, the Vietnamese photographer Truong Minh Dien overcame the other photographers from around the world to win the Grand Prize of the CGAP Photo Contest 2013.
The photo depicts a woman carrying two loads of potatoes to the market in a downpour. The earnings from them breed her whole family including husband and two children.
The four-member jury selected this photo among 3,890 ones sent by the amateur and professional photographers in 91 countries. The photo was highly appreciated for the compelling story and technical excellence.
The winner received a $2,000 award.
