The movement of amateur photography has recently flourished in Nha Trang City. Most of people who join this movement are young ones. With only a dedicated camera and some photoshop skills, t hey can become amateur photographers

In some tourist sites and beauty spots in the city like Rusalka tourist site, Hon Chong, etc., it is easy to see those young amateur photographers taking photographs for others who are young like them.

Those young people said that they came to photography just because they liked taking photographs for their relatives and friends at first. Later, there was an increasing demand for photography; therefore, they bought more equipment to meet those demands and became young amateur photographers. According to Tuan Anh, a new young amateur photographer can own a dedicated camera costing about VND10 million, tens of VND million or even up to more than VND100 million.

On some online forums, there are many introductions of photography services posted by the amateur photographers. The price of those services varies from VND300-400 thousand/set (about 10 photos) to VND1 million/set, basing on the kinds of photography. A set of wedding photographs costs from VND3 million to VND7 million.

The photographers now can be divided into two groups: Group 1 includes people who have a passion for photography; group 2 involves people who come to photography according to the movement.

The people in group 1 consider photography as an essential part in their life. They can spend a huge amount of money to buy good cameras. To them, a beautiful photo not only meets the requirements of skills but also captures the meaningful moments of the life. Therefore, they try to capture the impressive moments and learn experience from the seniors to take photos that bear their own manner.

Meanwhile, the people in group 2 consider photography as a hobby. They buy cameras and join photography groups just because of movement. They proclaim themselves photographers although they did not attend any photography class.

It can be said that the flourish of the amateur photography movement has been diversifying the photography profession. Those amateur photographers are likely to take great photos someday because “In photography there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated,” (saying of August Sander, a German portrait and documentary photographer).
