Khanh Hoa Provincial Literature – Arts Association and Fine Arts Publishing House have just released a book on Khanh Hoa’s fine arts in the period from 2004 to 2014. The book with 70 works of 35 authors introduced somewhat about the present aspects of fine arts in the land of aloe wood.

The book comprises works of senior painters who have been considered as the pioneers of painting in Khanh Hoa after the liberation day, such as Thanh Ho, Tran Hoa An, Vu Hoang Linh, Nguyen Huu Bai, etc. The book also featured the works of painters born in 1960s (Le Tri, Bui Van Quang, le Duy, Doan Xuan Hung, and so on) and the younger ones (Tran Manh Duc and Tran Ha). Although each painter introduced only two works, the pictures showed the private styles and strong points of the artists.

Besides traditional materials, some artists performed their works in contemporary art forms like video art, installation arts, etc.

For many years, the arts cycles in Vietnam have considered Khanh Hoa Province as one of localities in the Central – Highlands which have had a quite strong development in the field of fine arts. The assessment was based on the large numbers of artists of various art forms in Khanh Hoa and their successes in creating many valuable works. For example, painters Le Tri, Bui Van Quang, Tran Manh Duc, etc. won the highest prizes at the national fine arts exhibitions. In recent five years, Khanh Hoa achieved one A prize, three B prize, two C prize and eight consolation prizes at the fine arts exhibitions in the Central – Highlands. Up to now, hundreds of plastic arts works of Khanh Hoa’s artists have been introduced in both domestic and foreign exhibitions, in which many of them were bought by collectors.

Recently, there have been many art activities held in Khanh Hoa Province. The fine arts artists held ten private exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad; took part in six joint exhibitions held in foreign countries; organized three joint exhibitions with Russian artists in Nha Trang City; participated in the national and Central – Highlands exhibitions, and so on.

Now, tourism in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa has strongly developed, attracting a large number of foreign visitors. This is a favorable condition for Khanh Hoa’s fine arts to step up its activities, aiming to enrich the cultural activities to serve tourism as well as promote the development of the local fine arts.
