Ebullient activities for the elderly in Khanh Hoa

In recent years, Khanh Hoa Province has seen a strong development of the cultural and sports clubs for the elderly. The clubs has partly helped the elderly in the province to live a healthy and happy life.

In recent years, Khanh Hoa Province has seen a strong development of the cultural and sports clubs for the elderly. The clubs has partly helped the elderly in the province to live a healthy and happy life.


The poetry-music club in Phuoc Long Commune, Nha Trang City often holds a regular meeting twice every month. The club was formed in 2001 and has been joined by over 50 elderly people living in the commune.

According to Nguyen Thanh Nhuong, head of Phuoc Long Commune’s elderly association, the club aims to help the elderly to live a happy, healthy and useful life. It has created a meaningful playground for the elderly people. The club’s members have also joined many main events held in the commune. They exchange with each other their stories, self-composed poems and songs, helping them to find happiness in life.


Around 4am everyday, the members in the exercise club in Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City often gather to do morning exercises. Over 60 members of the club have remained doing these morning activities in order to stay healthy and prevent diseases.


“Thanks to doing exercises regularly, I am now in good health. The elderly having good physical health will help their children to feel secure to work well,” said Dinh Van Duy, head of Phuoc Dong Commune’s exercise club.


The provincial retirement club is also a favorable place of many elderly people. Everyday, the members come to the club to practice exercises, play table-tennis, badminton, and Chinese chess or recite poems, etc., creating an ebullient atmosphere.


Reportedly, Khanh Hoa Province now has more than 150 clubs organized by the elderly associations, including over 59 exercise clubs, over 57 clubs of Chinese chess, table-tennis, badminton, slow cycling and over 34 poetry clubs. These are familiar places for the elderly to exchange and practice exercise in order to live a healthy life.
