The cultural festival taking place at Ninh Binh Commune, Ninh Hoa Town in October 6-7 with the participation of over 300 actors and artisans from eight typical cultural villages in the province, including Phuoc Tan (Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City), Thinh Son (Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh City), Binh Thanh (Ninh Binh Commune, Ninh Hoa Town), Phu Khanh Thuong (Dien Thanh Commune, Dien Khanh), Phu Cang 2 Nam (Van Phu Coomune, Van Ninh), Cuu Loi 3 (Cam Hoa Commune, Cam Lam), A Thi (Ba Cum Bac Commune, Khanh Son), Suoi Ca (Khanh Trung Commune, Khanh Vinh). The festival included many sections: introduction, talent, folk games, cooking and exhibition.
This year’s festival was more interesting than the previous ones thanks to the better organization, new sections, and achievements in building up new cultural life as well as lively performances of the teams. The audience showed the interest in the ensemble of national musical instruments, “chau van” singing, traditional musical instrument performances, etc. The participants competed in many folk games of Tay people, Raglai people and Kinh people, such as “con” throwing, beating clay pots while blindfold, capturing the flag, and so on. These folk games partly reflected the spiritual and cultural life of people in the aloe wood land.
In the section of cooking traditional dishes, the artisans brought many unique dishes to the festival, such as steamed chopped fish, “che troi nuoc” (sticky rice dumpling boiled in sweet ginger soup), teamed thin rice pancake, grilled dishes, “ruou can” (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes), and “com lam” (rice cooked in bamboo-tubes).

The cultural village festival reflected the beauty of cultural life of people in Khanh Hoa as well as achievements in the movement of building up cultural families. The folk games, dishes, clothes, music and traditional dances partly showed the diversity of culture of the land.

Besides, the exhibiting section reflected the economic – social aspects of the villages. While the villages from the highland introduced their traditional things (papoose, crossbow, jar of wine, etc.) and agricultural products (durian, purple sugarcane, pomelo, etc.), the ones from the lowland brought to the festival their farming and fishing equipment and handicraft products. In addition, the images of traditional festivals together with historical and cultural vestiges in the localities also contributed to embellish the cultural villages.
“We are very happy to introduce our traditional culture and learn good ways in building up new cultural life from other localities,” said artisan Cao Dung (Khanh Son).
According to Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, head of organization board, the cultural village festival not only aimed to honor and praise the cultural villages but also to promote the folk games which have been at risk of fading into oblivion. That was also an opportunity for the localities in the province to exchange and learn experience in building up and developing Vietnamese culture.
