The series of cultural activities welcoming the Communist Party and New Year 2016 opened with Nha Trang City 20th Unicorn – Lion – Dragon Dance Festival taking place at 2-4 Square from January 31 to February 2. 19 teams of wards, districts and clubs in the city performed beautiful and skilled movements of unicorn dance. A large number of locals and tourists came to join the festival and cheer the teams. The festival contributed to preserve and uphold the country’s traditional cultural values.
Nextly, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Spring Newspaper Festival opened at the provincial Library on February, displaying around 4,100 publications of 500 press agencies. At the opening night, many visitors showed interest in the map of Vietnam formed by a lot of Khanh Hoa Newspaper’s Spring Special Issues.

Following those two activities were the musical program held by Hai Dang Song and Dance Troop to celebrate the 86th founding anniversary of the Communist Party and success of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party. The singing and dancing items about the nation and spring aroused in the audience the joyful atmosphere of the spring. Also at the same time, the provincial Cultural Center organized national singing and dancing show. In the upcoming days, the center will hold bai choi festival, unicorn – lion – dragon dance, human chess and street arts.
An archaeological exhibition on the prehistory and protohistory in Khanh Hoa with 300 precious objects discovered at the province’s archaeological sites (Xom Con, Hoa Diem, Vinh Yen, Van Tu Dong, etc.) opened by the provincial Museum on February 1. Besides, the museum associated with provincial Ornamental Creatures Association to hold an ornamental creature exhibition; collaborated with Khanh Hoa Antique Club to open antique exhibition with more than 100 ancient objects. A Tet paintings exhibition is also held to introduce the viewers New Year custom of the three regions of Vietnam through the displayed paintings.
“We want to introduce different features of Vietnam’s traditional culture to the public. The folk games, parallel sentences for Tet and paintings of Tet, etc. will partly help tourists know more about Vietnam’s culture,” said Nguyen Tam, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum.
In the following days, many other cultural – arts activities will be held by the units and organizations to serve the locals and tourists.
