Visiting Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2016, the visitors could contemplate hundreds of displayed antiquities and conversed with other people about the unique cultural features of these antiquities.
The antique fair 2016 opened on February 12, jointly held by Khanh Hoa Antique Club and the provincial Museum. A spectrum of diverse products were brought to the museum by members of Khanh Hoa Antique Club, such as porcelain plates made in the time of Ming and Qing dynasty (China), porcelains of the Nguyen dynasty, Chu Dau pottery, Bat Trang pottery, pottery statues of the South (Vietnam), radio, typewrites, bicycles, clock, and thermos. The price of these antiquities ranged from VND100 thousand to VND6 million.
Through the displayed objects, the visitors could see not only the finely crafted skill and art style of ancient people but also the typical cultural features of the past. There was often a story behind each antiquity. Some objects have descended through two or three generations; some were bought from scrap iron stores. Many people were interested in seeing once-familiar objects like Peugeot bicycle, vintage lamp and electric fan, soldier’s water-bottle, etc.

This year’s fair attracted more antique collectors than the 2015 fair. Apart from the collectors in Nha Trang City, there were some ones in Ninh Hoa Town and Gia Lai Province joining the fair. A few transactions were done. At the first fair of New Year, the buyers and the sellers both treated each other in a gentle manner. Some sellers contributed earnings from the sale of low-priced products to the funds of Nha Trang Antique Club.
Beside antiquities, many people show interest in ornamental creatures. |
“Many big cities in the world set up places for antiquity displaying and trading in order to serve the tourists. Although there are not many antique collectors in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, we tried to hold the antique fair to create a place for collectors to converge. Hopefully, such activities will partly help to increase the interest in antique of people and contribute to preserve the national culture,” said Dao Hoa, Head of Nha Trang Antique Club.
