Fish Prayer Rite in Khanh Hoa

"Ca Ong" (the Whale) has had a special meaning in the spiritual life of the fishermen in the South Central region. "Ca Ong", called with many names (Ong Nam Hai, Ong Lon, Ong Khoi, Ong Long, etc.), has been considered as a supreme deity who always helps fishermen to have safe trips and abundant crops. Therefore, people in fishing villages often hold ceremonies in the third and seventh lunar month to express their respects and gratitude to the "tien hien" (originators) and wish for favorable weather and prosperous life.
