Literature Publishing House has recently reissued Nguyen Binh’s novel “Hai nguoi dien giua kinh thanh Ha Noi”, basing on the publication released in 1940 by Lang Tuyet Publishing House. Poet Nguyen Binh has been acknowledged thanks to his poems. Just few people have known about his novels. The reprint of Nguyen Binh’s novel was according to the trend of nostalgia of the publishing industry which appeared around three years ago.

In 2014, Nha Nam Culture & Media Joint Stock Company in association with Literature Publishing House started the trend by reissued plenty of Vietnam’s popular old books (So do, Vang bong mot thoi, Mieng ngon Ha Noi, Viec lang, Gio dau mua, Ha Noi bam sau pho phuong). After that, Nha Nam Company continued to release many remarkable books of Vietnam’s modern literature. The publication of Vietnamese literary masterpiece has interested many people who love literature. Also in 2014, Nha Nam Company collaborated with Literature Publishing House to reproduce the book about Nguyen Thai Hoc of writer Nhuong Tong. The book, first issued in 1945, includes many precious documents about the head of Vietnamese Nationalist Party.

At the end of 2014, Alpha Books released books within the book set about Vietnamese history, which were published for the first time a long time ago. Up till now, about 40 books of this book set have been produced. Reportedly, through this set of books, the producers hope to contribute to enhance the readers’ knowledge of Vietnam’s history as well as provide readers a variety of views on some famous historical figures.

The republication of quality old books has provided a deeper view on Vietnamese literature in the prewar time, helping the readers to have more knowledge about the country’s history. “In the publishing industry, it is usual to reprint old books. However, the effort of the publishers in searching for manuscripts and documents to produce quality sets of books has been meaningful to the reading culture in the country. Especially, these reprinted books will help the public to have a more accurate view on the writers and literature of a period,” said writer Ho Huy Son.
