According to the plan of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, on the occasion of the Vietnam Book Day 2016 (April 21), the provincial Library will associate with Khanh Hoa University and book publishing units in the province to hold book exhibitions and talk show about the Vietnam Book Day. Specifically, there will be exhibitions themed on Dien Bien Phu Victory, Ho Chi Minh Campaign, President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam, Khanh Hoa’s Party Committee and people over periods, etc. The exhibition will also feature the maps showing the sovereignty of Vietnam over the Spratly and Paracel Islands. Besides, a talk show on Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty is slated to be held on April 20 with the participation of the political officials of the Naval Institute.

“The library has paid a special attention on building up and developing reading movement in the province. On the main occasions, we often organize themed book exhibitions in the city and other localities to serve the readers. This year, we hold the exhibition at Khanh Hoa University, aiming to promote the reading culture among the youth,” said Nguyen Ta, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Library.
Apart from Khanh Hoa University, the book exhibitions will be held at the Naval Institute, Nha Trang Library, Cam Ranh Library and some other districts and towns. Other activities relating to the book day will also be held, including reading movement, book telling contests, book collecting activity to send to schools in remote areas, reading days.
Khanh Hoa Province’s Department of Information and Communications will collaborate with Department of Education and Training, Khanh Hoa Book Publishing Joint Stock Company, Phuong Nam Retail Co., Ltd. – Nha Trang Branch, Tan Phuoc Long Bookstore, Nha Trang Book Publishing Center and National Political Publishing House - The Truth to offer books to the schools in Khanh Son District. According to Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications Pham Duy Loc, the reading culture in the mountainous areas has not developed well partly because of the lack of books. Therefore, in many years, the provincial Department of Information and Communications and many other units have always given books to the schools in these areas. The activity has partly raised pupils’ and locals’ awareness of books.
On the occasion, Khanh Hoa Book Publishing Joint Stock Company will offer 10% discount for book purchases at the company’s bookstores in April 20-21. Phuong Nam Bookstore has discounted book and same-priced book selling area.
The fact that Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee plans to organize Vietnam Book Day in the province shows the interest of the province’s leaders in the reading culture. However, it needs the contribution of the whole community in order to promote the book day and make it to have more effective social effects.
