According to Major-General Nguyen Hoai Nam, Director of Army Radio-Television Centre, Editorial Director of Vietnam National Defense television channel, Head of the festival’s organization board, the festival takes place not long after the 12th National Party Congress ended. Therefore, the eleventh whole-army television festival will partly help to propagandize for the solutions of the National Party Congress. This is also an opportunity for the units and organizations to make high quality works about the armed force and all people’s defense.
Joining the festival, the people working in the television and journalism can exchange experience and learn to improve the television programs of the armed force. The entries featured at the festival are expected to encourage the officials, soldiers and civilians to strive to build and protect the country.
Reportedly, the festival has received around 294 entries of 114 units, in which there are 147 reportages, 46 documentary films, 88 columns and 13 scientific educational films.
In the circumstance that the practical bases and revolutionary tasks in the new period require the television works to be done with increasing quality, the Ministry of Defense has paid a special attention to the propaganda. Specifically, the facilities and workforce have been invested better; the National Defense television channel was opened, which has created opportunities for the amateur and professional journalists to cultivate and improve their skills. Therefore, the quality of the entries sent to the festival is improved year on year.
As said by Nam, the genres of entries of the 2016 whole-army television festival are diverse. Besides, the entries are required to meet the technical requirements to be broadcast in HD. The entries also reflect comprehensively the activities of the armed force in which the subjects on sea, island, public relations, the family of the soldiers, environment, East Sea issues, and military training are the most outstanding ones. Specially, many hot matters were reflected in different points of views.
This year’s entries are also judged by the experienced juries who have expertise in the field of television and journalism.
Nam also stated that the most excellent works will be re-edited and disseminated among the armed force in order to uphold the effectiveness of the festival. Additionally, these works will also be selected to join the 36th national television festival held in Lao Cai Province.
