According to Le Van Hoa, Vice-Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the activities to celebrate the Communist Party and Lunar New Year 2017 are slated to be organized from January 19 to February 7. Many activities in the fields of culture, arts and sports, especially exhibitions and performances, will be carried out.
Specifically, the provincial Center of Culture will hold shows of don ca tai tu (traditional improvisational chamber music), music and fashion at the center’s lobby (No. 5 2-4 Street, Nha Trang); bai choi (Vietnam’s traditional art form) performances at the beach park; unicorn – lion – dragon dance and human chess competition at 2-4 Square, Nha Trang; street arts show at Tue Tinh Park.
On New Year’s Eve, Hai Dang Song and Dance Troop in association with Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Arts Theatre and provincial Cultural Center will organize an art program to welcome Lunar New Year 2017 at 2-4 Square. Besides, the troop will hold other programs to serve the people in Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh District.
During the time of New Year, the artists of provincial Traditional Arts Theatre plans to perform extracts from the folk theatrical art forms such as Tuong (classical drama), folk-songs and bai choi at 2-4 Square and the park opposing to Tue Tinh Street. The show of Tuong will also be held at Ponagar Temple.
In addition, exhibitions about the culture of people in the South and 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam will be held by the provincial Museum. The museum will also work with other units like provincial Ornamental Creatures Association and Khanh Ho Antique Club to display ornamental creatures and antiquities.
Other activities taking place during the occasion of Lunar New Year 2017 include exhibition on pottery and sand paintings; calligraphy writing at Ponagar Temple and Hon Chong Club-House (Nha Trang City) (held by Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Heritage Conservation); Spring Newspaper Festival 2017 (jointly held by provincial Library and provincial Press Association). Khanh Hoa Cinema Center forms six roving film crews to serve the people in the remote areas.
Reportedly, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed the relevant units to prepare and carry out the scheme, aiming to bring the locals and tourists plenty of interesting and attractive activities on Lunar New Year.
