Khanh Son District hopes to have children's house

Until now, due to financial difficulties, Khanh Son District has been the only locality in Khanh Hoa Province which has not had a children’s house.

Because of the lack of playgrounds and playing areas, during summer days, the children in Khanh Son often play and have fun with spontaneous games in which some of the activities are unsafe for them like playing at rivers or streams. Only children of well-off families can have opportunities to attend art classes or sports classes in Cam Ranh City or Nha Trang City. Thanh, a physical teacher of a junior high school in Khanh Son, tried to look for a place to open sports class for children, but he could not find any appropriate one.

Reportedly, some localities in Khanh Son like Son Binh Commune, Ba Cum Bac Commune, Son Trung Commune and To Hap Town have playing areas for children. However, the number and quality of facilities and equipment at these playgrounds are not sufficient and not good enough. At present, these facilities and equipment have been degraded and out of order.

“At the meetings with the representatives of the People’s Council, we suggested for a district children’s house to create useful and safe activities for children, especially in summer. This will also help to keep children safe from treacherous activities,” said Nguyen Thi Luyen, To Hap Town.

At the meeting between Khanh Son District Party Committee and Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Committee, Mau Thai Cu, Secretary of Khanh Son District Party Committee, also emphasized the need for district children’s house in order to create useful playgrounds and improve the children’s physical and mental health.

To Hap Town schemed to build a cultural house, 4.5 ha, a playing area for children, 0.6 ha, but has had no plan for children’s house. Le Thanh Quang, Central Party Committee Member, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, said at a meeting with Khanh Son District that the district should choose one of the two schemes to implement. Le Thanh Quang also stated that the scheme for a cultural house at which the activities for children, young people and the elderly can be held is the most appropriate one for Khanh Son in the current difficult economic context.

Hopefully, in the near future, Khanh Son District will have a quality place, meeting the needs of learning and playing of the children in the district. This will partly help to improve the local institutions of culture.
