The Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin in Khanh Hoa was established on September 20, 1992. In 25 years, the association has well acted as a bridge connecting people in Vietnam and other countries.
The Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin in Khanh Hoa was established on September 20, 1992. Throughout 25 years of establishment and development, the association has well acted as a bridge connecting people in Vietnam and other countries.
In Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular, the name of Dr. Alexandre Yersin has been a noble symbol for the dedication and devotion to science, humanity and compassion for people, especially the poor. He was granted posthumous title of “Honorary citizen of Vietnam”.
In order to honor and show a high respect to Dr. Alexandre Yersin, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee established Khanh Hoa’s Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin. This has been the only non-governmental charity association named after Dr. Alexandre Yersin in Vietnam. The association’s members are the intellectuals, officials, officers, retirees, individuals and organization in and outside Vietnam. After the formation of Khanh Hoa’s Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin, the associations of admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin in France (d’Adaly Montpellier) and in Switzerland (AAAYS) were established.
In 25 years, the Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin of Khanh Hoa has associated with many units to hold numerous seminars about Dr. Alexandre Yersin in order to honor his cultural values, great humanity contributions to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa, Vietnam and the whole world. The association proposed and contributed to build and preserve the memorial works of Dr. Alexandre Yersin; carried out combined activities to introduce and up hold the scientific achievements of Dr. Alexandre Yersin; organized conferences, exhibitions and published books about Dr. Alexandre Yersin.

A.Yersin Charity Clinic, formed in 1993, sponsored regularly by Khatoco and VinGroup, has offered free physical examination and medicine to poor people in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa and some other localities. The association has also mobilized people in and outside the province to do many charity activities, such as helping the poor, orphans, children with disabilities, poor but studious students, etc. In the last 25 years, the association used more than VND15 billion mobilized from the individuals and organizations in Vietnam and foreign countries to do charity activities.
Additionally, the association associated with Vietnamese and foreign television stations and press agencies to produce eight films about Dr. Alexandre Yersin which was broadcast on some channels of Vietnam; published books on the life and career of Dr. Alexandre Yersin in Vietnamese and French. Every year, Khanh Hoa’s Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin in association with Nha Trang Pasteur Institute and some organizations in the province solemnly organizes the birth anniversary (September 22) and death anniversary (March 1) of Dr. Alexandre Yersin. He is worshipped in temple as Bodhisattva. Not many foreign people in Vietnam have been loved and admired by the locals like Dr. Alexandre Yersin.
Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa has many works named after or associated with Dr. Alexandre Yersin, such as Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, A.Yersin Museum, Yersin Library, Nha Trang Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biological, A.Yersin Park and statue, A.Yersin Tomb, Yersin Junior High School Nha Trang, A.Yersin Junior High School in Suoi Cat Commune (Cam Lam District), and Hon Ba tourist site.
The Khanh Hoa’s Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin was awarded Third Labor Medal by the State President. The Prime Minister, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and Vietnam Association for Promoting Education gave many certificates of merit to the association and its members. This has been a big encouragement for the association’s members to keep contributing well to the community.
