The Lunar New Year 2018 is only less than a month away. Khanh Hoa’s cultural and art establishments are actively practicing for the music and art programs taking place during New Year days.
Right from the beginning of December 2017, the provincial Cultural and Sports Department of Khanh Hoa issued plan for the cultural and art programs to welcome Lunar New Year 2018. Accordingly, the provincial cultural and art establishments will organize numerous activities from February 7 to February 25 (lunar December 22, 2017 to lunar January 10, 2018) in Nha Trang and some other localities over the province.
Specifically, Khanh Hoa Provincial Cultural Center planed to hold programs on piano, organ, “đờn ca tài tử” (traditional improvisational chamber music), folk songs, and folk music; introduction on cultural works and authors; exhibitions on ornamental creatures, calligraphy, and paintings; “bài chòi” (Vietnam’s traditional art form) festival; unicorn-lion-dragon dance; and street art show. On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, the center will hold a music programs at 2-4 Square, Nha Trang.
The singers and actors of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troop will perform many music items within the programs held to celebrate the foundation day of the Communists Party of Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the General Offensive and Uprising of Mau Than Spring 1968. Besides, the troop will hold programs to serve people in Khanh Son District, Khanh Vinh District, and the Spratly Islands; welcoming-Lunar-New-Year programs at 2-4 Square on Lunar New Year’s Eve, February 18, 20.

The artists of Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Arts Theatre are preparing for the performances held at 2-4 Square on Lunar New Year’s Eve, February 16, 19; at the beach park opposite No.16 Tran Phu Street, at Ponagar Temple. The theatre’s programs will also be toured to some districts like Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh, and Dien Khanh.
The planned activities of the provincial Museum for the Lunar New Year 2018 include an exhibition on culture of Cham people; a display on decorative plants, bonsai, and decorative driftwood (in association with provincial Ornamental Creature Association); and an antique fair (jointly organized by Nha Trang Antique Club).
As said by Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Cultural and Sports Department, the preparations for the cultural and art activities on the Lunar New Year 2018 occasion have been being carried out quite well and actively. Hopefully that with the careful preparations, the cultural and art establishments will bring the locals and tourists diverse and interesting activities during Tet days.
