Aiming to maintain and promote public art at all levels in the province, Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Culture formed many different art clubs and groups. The activities of these establishments have partly served the need for enjoying music and other entertainments of the public as well as helped to maintain the love for job of the clubs’ members.
Numerous Lunar New Year 2018 programs were organized by the art clubs and groups under the provincial Cultural Center. For example, the members of club namely young singers together with My Friends dance group, Diamond hip hop club, and Green Sea model club took part in some special programs held on Lunar New Year’s Eve and lunar January 5 (February 15 and 20). After a period of hiatus, the Bais Chòi festival at the beach park to the south of 2-4 Square was organized again by Bài Chòi Club, from February 16 to March 2. Nha Trang during Tet days became more boisterous with unicorn-lion-dragon performances of Unicorn-Lion-Dragon Dance Club.
Not only taking place on the Lunar New Year occasion, the activities of the art clubs under Khanh Hoa Provincial Cultural Center are organized regularly year-round. Reportedly, the provincial Cultural Center is managing more than 1,800 members of 25 art clubs and groups of different genres, such as folk music, traditional art, Bài Chòi, “đờn ca tài tử” (traditional improvisational chamber music), unicorn-lion-dragon dance, music instruments, dance, singing, poet, fashion performance, etc. In 2017, apart from their own programs, these art clubs and groups took part in many events and festivals of the province.
The establishment of these art clubs and groups has helped many people who have passion for art to have opportunity to learn and perform art. However, as self-financing establishments, supported by the provincial Cultural Center, these arts clubs and groups have been facing many difficulties due to lack of funds and facilities. This has caused some clubs to perform ineffectively.
Van Dinh An, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Culture, said that the activities of the art clubs and clubs under the center have partly helped to promote the development art and positively impacted the public, especially young people. In order for these establishments to maintain activities and work better, beside the supports from the center, more investments from the provincial Department of Culture and Sports are essential.
