Khanh Hoa’s Spring Newspaper Festival 2018 will open on February 9 (lunar January 24) at Khanh Hoa Provincial Library (No.8 Tsran Hung Dao Street, Nha Trang) instead of at the provincial Cultural Center like the previous festivals. There will have some changes in the design and arrangement of the exhibits. Reportedly, the provincial Journalists’ Association in association with the press agencies called for supports from the businesses to prepare for this year’s festival. Around nearly 4,500 publications of more than 400 newspapers, in which there are special issues of the newspapers of 63 provinces and cities over the country, will be displayed at the Spring Newspaper Festival 2018.
The spring newspaper festival has been a rendezvous where the press agencies, journalists and reporters meet and exchange experience and professional competence. “I have come to almost all spring newspaper festivals of Khanh Hoa. The organization has gotten better and better and the scale has been larger year by year. Also, the number of exhibits has increased; the design and content of the newspapers have also been more beautiful and diverse,” said Poet Giang Nam.

As said by Nguyen Ta, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Library, besides the provincial Library as the main venue, the 2018 Spring Newspaper Festival will take place at some localities throughout the province, such as Dien Khanh District, Van Ninh District, Ninh Hoa Town, Cam Ranh City, and Cam Hiep Nam Commune (Cam Lam District). Additionally, the provincial Library will also distribute spring newspapers to the libraries of nine districts, communes and cities in Khanh Hoa. The larger scale expansion aims to help the people over the province to approach a more diverse source of spring newspapers.
This year’s Spring Newspaper Festival of Khanh Hoa will include the display of many typical works about the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in spring 1968. After the closing ceremony on February 27 (lunar January 12), a number of exhibited newspapers will be given to the libraries and cultural centers over the province, including the Spratly District.
Doan Minh Long, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists’ Association said that in order to acknowledge and encourage the journalists, the 2018 spring newspaper festival’s organization committee will offer ten prizes to the newspapers which have quality articles about Khanh Hoa Province. The selection for winning newspapers will be based on the vote of readers during the festival.
