Performing two sessions of three items per day at Hon Chong Clubhouse, the traditional musical instrument band of Khanh Hoa Provincial Heritage Conservation Center has been introducing effectively the traditional culture of Vietnam to the tourists.

The number of tourists visiting Hon Chong tourist site has increased years by years. In order to diversify the services to serve the visitors, eight years ago, Hon Chong Clubhouse formed a band of traditional musical instruments. Since establishment, the band has introduced many unique musical instruments of Vietnam to the tourists through their performances. Kharinov Viacheslav, a tourist from Russia, said that he was interested in learning that the musical instruments made of bamboo and stones could produce good sound.

Some Vietnamese traditional musical instruments played at Hon Chong Clubhouse include monochord, 16-string zither, 36-string zither, Vietnamese two-string guitar, bamboo flute, drum, and gong, etc. Especially, the band also plays the typical musical instruments of the people in the highland area of Vietnam, such as T’rưng, lithophone, and some instruments called Đinh Pá, Krông Pút.

Reportedly, initially, the band only consisted of two members and performed a few items with not many musical instruments. Together with the increase of popularity of the performances and number of visitors, the band added new members and has improved their items to offer more diverse and better performances to tourists.

Each member of the band has learned to play different musical instruments. As said by Vo Thi My Thuan, a band member, it takes a maximum of approximately three months for a member to learn and play well a new musical instrument. The band now has seven members and can play nearly 100 pieces of music of Vietnam and other countries.

The performances of the traditional musical instrument band at Hon Chong Clubhouse have helped to preserve and promote the Vietnamese traditional culture in general and musical instruments in particular to people from over the world.
