Book fairs are an event to encourage more people to read book, acknowledge the essential role of books in society, and further promote the reading culture in communities. Book fairs also help to raise people’s awareness of the meaning and significance of reading in learning knowledge, developing mind, educating people, and building character. Besides, book fairs serve to call for responsibility of the local departments and organizations in promoting books and reading.

According to Pham Duy Loc, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Information and Communications, the 2019 Book Fair of Khanh Hoa is slated to take place at Nha Trang University (No.2 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Nha Trang) from April 20 to 22 with theme “Books accompanying young people”. Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Information and Communications, the major organizer, will associate with other units, which are Nha Trang University, Khanh Hoa Provincial Library, Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, publishers, the libraries of the universities and colleges in the province, to organize the book fair. Besides the opening ceremony which will be organized solemnly, the book fair will include other activities such as displaying and introducing books, selling books at discounted prices, and gifting bookcases.
There will be 14 stalls displaying books of 14 units, including Khanh Hoa Book Publishing Joint Stock Company, Phuong Nam Retail Co., Ltd. – Nha Trang Branch, Fahasa Nha Trang, Fahasa Khanh Hoa, CDMIEX Joint Stock Company, Khanh Hoa Provincial Library, Khanh Hoa Youth Union, Naval Academy, Nha Trang University, Khanh Hoa University, Telecommunications University, Air Force Officer School, Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy, and Nha Trang Tourism College. The books will be selected to be suitable for pupils and students.
On the occasion of the Book Fair 2019, the participating units will offer bookcases to the schools affected by the storms in Nha Trang in 2018. Some other activities will be held during the book fair in order to create a lively atmosphere and attract visitors, such as music performances, cultural exchanges, talks about books, and painting.
