The beauty of Khanh Hoa, the land of aloe wood, will be presented at an exhibition opening at Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum (No.16 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang) on May 10.
The exhibition is an activity of the Visit Vietnam Year 2019 and Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2019. The exhibition will showcase the collections of ao dai, aloe wood products, gemstones, jewelry made of gemstones, and documents about Doctor Alexandre Yersin, and so on. Through the exhibits, the organizers hope to provide the public with a more insight into the traditional beauty of Khanh Hoa and the creativity of Khanh Hoa people.
The exhibition covers an area of over 300 square meters with indoor and outdoor sections. The exhibition opens to the public from May 5 to May 30 and is free of charge. As for the indoor exhibition, the exhibits will be displayed until August 30.
The visitors to the exhibition can contemplate the beauty of 50 sets of ao dai in different designs of designer Thieu Vy. Reportedly, this ao dai collection was introduced to the public at Hue Festival 2018. Being inspired by the traditional cultural characteristics, these sets of ao dai feature the images of imperial palaces, lotus, dragon, phoenix, and different kinds of flowers. The visitors also learn about the aloe wood, a typical product of Khanh Hoa, through the handmade products made of aloe wood by the artisans of Van Thang aloe wood craft village. The indoor section also includes tens of documents, books, stamps, and photographs about Doctor Alexandre Yersin, an honorary citizen of Vietnam.
The outdoor section displays products of Lu Cam pottery; handicrafts made from recycled materials; and floor vases made of cardboard, etc. Lu Cam pottery used to be well-know and has been used to make many practical appliances in daily life of the people in Nha Trang. After many ups and downs, Lu Cam pottery has gradually lost its popularity. In order to preserve and promote the unique of Lu Cam pottery, sculptor Doan Xuan Hung created a collection of products made of Lu Cam pottery. His works were showcased at many exhibitions across the country. At the upcoming exhibition to celebrate the Visit Vietnam Year 2019 and Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2019, Hung will display around 50 Lu Cam potteries among which are many first released products.
The handicrafts made of recycled materials are expected to be an interesting feature of this exhibition. Many colorful souvenirs in different shapes made of recycled materials will be displayed at the exhibition, conveying the message of environment protection. Besides, the exhibition will showcase more than 1,700 pots of orchids. Traditional art performances will also take place every evening to serve visitors.
