The 9th Sea Festival of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa will include many diverse activities reflecting the traditional cultural color of the locality and honoring the values of the tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the country and province.
The 9th Sea Festival of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa will include many diverse activities reflecting the traditional cultural color of the locality and honoring the values of the tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the country and province.
Among nearly 60 activities featured in the 2019 Sea Festival of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, the activities bearing the traditional culture characteristics are street unicorn-lion-dragon dance; cải lương (Vietnam’s folk drama); ritual dance expressing gratitude to Mother Goddesses, quan họ (love duets) singing; Ví Giặm singing (Ví and Giặm folk songs of Nghe Tinh Province were inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity); display of pottery making and brocade weaving techniques of Cham people; Bài Chòi singing; and Whale Worshipping Ceremony. These activities are jointly organized by Nha Trang People’s Committee, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, and Khanh Hoa Provincial UNESCO Association.
The shows of the intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO will be organized by Khanh Hoa Culture-Cinema Center in the form of street art. The opening ceremony of the Sea Festival 2019 will include some art performances introducing the typical cultural features of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa. For example, a dance play about Thien Y Ana Holy Mother is one of the outstanding parts of the opening ceremony, featuring many art forms to highlight the typical traditional cultures of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
Under the theme “Color of Sea”, the activities of the Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2019 will focus on presenting the traditional cultural color of Khanh Hoa Province and the locals. As said by Nguyen Dac Tai, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, at a press conference about the Visit Vietnam Year 2019 (Vietnam’s Tourism Year) and Sea Festival 2019, the festival is an occasion to introduce the dynamic and positive images of Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa, the land of aloe wood and salanganes nest in particular to the tourists in the country and over the world.
The activities of the sea festival are the highlights of the Visit Vietnam Year 2019 of which Khanh Hoa is the host. Reportedly, the festival’s organization committee will attach special importance to incorporate new features into the activities to spotlight and promote the traditional cultural characteristics as well as create a festive atmosphere for the festival.
