More than 400 artists of 18 provinces and cities over the country gathered in Nha Trang to take part in the recently-held art program introducing the cultural heritages of Vietnam to the people and tourists in the beach city.
The art programs were organized at the 2-4 Square of Nha Trang in June 14-15. The artists dressing in typical costumes of each heritage introduced to the public their local cultural heritages. Artists Pham Hai Hau from Ha Nam Province performed song reflecting beliefs of Vietnamese people in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms which was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2016. The colors of Nha Nhac (Vietnam Royal Court Music) were introduced lively by the artists of Hue Royal Art Theatre with many music instruments. The art group of Bac Ninh Province sang Quan Họ folk song, a typical cultural heritage of Bac Ninh Province.
Young singer Pham Thi Man (nine years old) of Hanoi art group impressed the audience with her emotional voice and singing ability. She sang a famous song of Ca trù (inscribed on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2009). The artists from the provinces of Phu Tho, Dak Lak, and Binh Duong joined the art program with performances of Xoan singing of Phu Tho Province, gongs culture of the highlands of Vietnam, Đờn ca tài tử (Vietnam’s traditional improvisational chamber music), respectively. The host Khanh Hoa praised the beauty of Khanh Hoa through Bài Chòi performance.
Vietnam so far has had 12 intangible cultural heritages which were inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The recent art programs held in Nha Trang partly helped Vietnamese people and foreign tourists to learn more about these precious traditional heritages of Vietnam.
As said by Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the art program in Nha Trang was one of the activities of the Visit Vietnam Year 2019. The organization of this art program was a practical activity to honor and preserve the cultural heritages according to Vietnam’s commitment to UNESCO. Through this art program, the potentials of culture and intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam were introduced to the locals and tourists from different part of the world.
Besides Nha Trang, the art groups performed in other localities of Khanh Hoa in order to spread the values of the country’s intangible cultural heritages.
