The food stalls at Ponagar Temple (Nha Trang) have been using paper straws and cups instead of the plastics ones for nearly one month so far. “Lộc” (lucky items) are contained in paper bags instead of plastic bags. “The replacement of plastic items by environmentally-friendly materials of the temple is good. Containing “lộc” in paper bags is also an effective way to raise the awareness of environmental protection among the locals and tourists,” said Dang Huu Phuoc (Phuong Sai Street, Nha Trang).

Khanh Hoa’s Center for Monument Preservation has propagandized and encouraged the goods sellers at Ponagar Temple to reduce plastic items and protect environment. This environmental protection program of the center has been responded actively by the sellers. Hon Chong tourist site has also changed plastic straws and bags to paper ones. This tourist site often receives a large number of visitors everyday. Therefore, this change has helped to reduce a considerable plastic waste at this area. The bamboo baskets and garbage bins are used in place of the plastics. Besides, the garbage sorting is being done right at the tourist sites.

The staff has also been mobilized to promote the campaign among their families and neighborhoods.
