Khanh Hoa provincial third contest on cultural heritage held recently by Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports is regarded as a useful activity to foster the love for national and provincial cultural heritages.

Over three years of organization, the contest has served as a platform for the students in the province to learn more about the nation’s and province’s cultural heritages. The 2019 edition had eight participating teams from eight localities across the province and included four sections: introduction; learning about world cultural heritages in Vietnam, national cultural heritages in Khanh Hoa, general knowledge of Khanh Hoa’s history and culture, law on cultural heritages; identifying world cultural heritages in Vietnam and national cultural heritages in Khanh Hoa through photos; and talent.

The introduction section required the teams to present the typical features of the cultural heritages in their locality as well as their school and team’s members. The team from Dinh Tien Hoang Junior High School won this section with their creative and impressive performance.

In the next two sections, the participants showed their knowledge of the cultural heritages through answering questions. With their good preparation, Dien Tan Primary and Junior High School (Dien Khanh District) achieved highest score in these two sections. The score difference between teams was not large, which partly reflected the pretty good knowledge of the participants.

The teams presented lively the local cultural heritages in the section of talent. Nguyen Hien Junior High School (Nha Trang) performed ba trao singing; Khanh Son Boarding Ethnic Minority School (Khanh Son District) sang songs of Raglai people and played ma la (a traditional music instrument); Nguyen Hue Junior High School performed an excerpt of cai luong (reformed theatre). Student namely Quoc Bao from Le Hong Phong Junior High School (Cam Ranh City) was given highest score in talent section thanks to his good voice in the performance of a love duet.

The participants brought to the contest diverse performances; integrated and conveyed their knowledge of the cultural heritages through the well-prepared performances. Spending much time in staging and practicing helped the students performed confidently. Nguyen Ngoc Bao Han, student of Dien Tan Primary and Junior High School, said that the time she and her team’s members devoting to learning and practicing for the contest equipped them with a lot of knowledge about the cultural heritages in and outside the province.

The contest on cultural heritages has been organized at district’s level for 13 years and at provincial level for three years. Each time of organization, the contest always receives an active response from the schools and localities. This partly reflected the effectiveness of propaganda on the values of cultural heritages among the communities.
