The artifact which was painstakingly created in a long time is the model of topography of rivers and sea with the display of typical fishing tackle of different sectors of Vietnam’s fisheries from the past to present. Basing on the knowledge and information about waters, the staff and lecturers of the Institute of Science and Technology highlighted the difference in fishing industry of each region with their typical fishing gear such as fishing baskets and models of fishing net traps. These artifacts and models can expose visitors to information about the history of Vietnam’s fishery and people’s creativeness and ingenuity in conquering nature.

Modern to rudimentary model fishing boats, which are closely resemble the real ones, are also one of the attractions of the museum. These model boats are the results of the thorough and meticulous researches and works of the Institute of Science and Technology’s staff and lecturers. The most recently created work is the 1/35 scale model of a 820 CV steel fishing boat, with seafood preservation hold, nets, light system, and water pipe system, etc.

Place for sightseeing and fieldtrips

The fishing tackle museum of Nha Trang University is serving as a place for the studying and researching of researchers and students in fishery and agricultural economics and also as a sightseeing site for tourists. With the displayed physical model of Vietnam’s sea waters, lecturers can impart knowledge and instruct students to observe the characteristics of Vietnam's sea waters. It is really a vivid and visual teaching tool. For subjects that require direct observation of fishing tackle, students can do researches at the museum instead going to ports. Students can also observe and learn about the ancient fishing tackle which has been fallen into disuse at the museum.

According to Nguyen Viet Hung, manager of the fishing tackle museum, the artifacts and models displayed at the museum are collected, discovered or made by the staff and students of Nha Trang University. Besides helping researchers, lecturers and students to conduct scientific researches and study, the museum also aims to develop into an appealing sightseeing site introducing the history of the fishing industry of Vietnam.
