Positive results
Khanh Hoa Province has reaped many positive results over 19 years carrying out the movement “The whole people unite to build cultural life”. There has been an increasing proportion of cultural localities, agencies and families, which are carefully assessed and voted. Some ritual acts performed during funerals and weddings have positively been changed; some unsound customs have gradually been removed.

For many years, Nha Trang City has been considered a typical locality in implementing the movement and has had many effective ways to carry out the movement. The city has helped and encouraged the residential groups and families in the localities to follow the cultural criteria and build new rural areas and civilized urban areas. By the end of 2019, there were 78,240 families recognized as cultural families (95%) and 355 hamlets and residential groups recognized as cultural ones (97.7%).
Many marriage ceremonies and funerals over the city were organized with civilized lifestyle. 1,848 out of 1,867 families didn’t scatter votive papers on streets during funerals. In 2020, Nha Trang City strives to reach 98% cultural hamlets and residential groups, and 99% cultural families. In the first quarter of 2020, in the city, 15 out of 322 wedding ceremonies were organized with civilized lifestyle; 305 among 306 funerals were held without votive papers scattered on the streets.
Needing synchronous actions and cooperation
Leader of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports says the “The whole people unite to build cultural life” movement needs synchronous actions and cooperation of agencies, departments and localities. In 2020, Khanh Hoa plans to have 85% cultural families, 70% cultural hamlets and residential groups, 90% cultural agencies and businesses, 50% communes meeting criteria for new rural area, 50% civilized wards and towns, and 100% hamlets with cultural and sports hall. The province also plans to invest in cultural facilities at grass root level in order to improve the quality, efficiency of cultural activities and to gradually meet the standards set by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The provincial Department of Culture and Sports is responsible for instructing, inspecting, and cooperating with localities and agencies to implement the plan. Nha Trang City has announced a plan to implement the movement. In general, the specific targets set by the city are close to the actual local situation and highly feasible. The city pays a special attention to raising the quality of assessment process for cultural families. The information of the movement will be informed and spread widely to the public on the mass media.
The movement “The whole people unite to build cultural life” has made positive impacts on society.
