The exhibition is scheduled to open at 5pm on June 13. In many recent days, the museum’s staff has worked hard on preparation for the exhibition such as coming up with ideas, collecting objects, and preparing exhibition sections. More than 100 documents, photos, and objects will be introduced to the visitors. The exhibition is open free to the public until early November.
Khanh Hoa Province is blessed with island and sea resources; many socio-economic and cultural activities of local people are closely associated with sea. The upcoming thematic exhibition of Khanh Hoa museum will introduce three traditional industries of the coastal province, which are salt producing, fish sauce producing and fishing. Visitors to the exhibition can learn more about production process and different products of these traditional industries.
The museum staff has tried to collect appropriate and typical objects and made models relating to the three traditional industries, for example fish sauce barrels used in many fish sauce production facilities in Nha Trang, labor tools, and salt fields. Especially, in order to bring the public an interesting experience when visiting the exhibition, visitors are allowed to touch the exhibits.
The exhibition also has a section to introduce to the public the traditional fishing tools. In this section, visitors can contemplate fishing boats, fishing nets, and types of cages for fishing seafood, etc. Some local schools will hold museum field trip for their students during the time of the exhibition. The exhibition will also include talks on fish sauce production presented by the lecturers of Nha Trang University. Additionally, there is a kitchen space to introduce familiar dipping sauces made of salt and fish sauce of Nha Trang people.
Apart from inside sections, Khanh Hoa museum associates with a women’s association to hold weekend market. The market will be open on Saturdays and Sundays during the exhibition time, selling handmade products, fashion products, and street food. Besides, visiting the market, visitors can also play some Vietnamese folk games. The units and individuals registering booths at these weekend market have committed themselves to ensuring the quality of their products.
The preparation for the thematic exhibition has been completed. This event aims to contribute to restore the tourism of Khanh Hoa Province in general and the beach city of Nha Trang in particular.
