Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports has recently issued a plan to promote the traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities who live in Khanh Hoa Province. Le Van Hoa, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, stated in a recent interview with Khanh Hoa News:
- There are many ethnic minorities in Khanh Hoa, such as Raglai, E de, and T’rin. However, nowadays, the ethnic minority people don’t use their traditional costumes much in everyday life; these traditional costumes have gradually fallen into oblivion. Therefore, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, at the end of last March, issued a plan to promote the traditional heritages of ethnic minorities. The purpose of this plan is to implement the project of preserving and promoting the traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in 2020 - 2030 period in Khanh Hoa and to revive these traditional costumes.
- The implementation of the plan will contribute to strengthen the preservation and promotion of the values of the ethnic minorities’ traditional costumes in Khanh Hoa. The introduction of the traditional costumes will be incorporated appropriately into the contents of festivals, art contests and shows held by provincial departments, sectors, agencies, and localities.
- What is the specific work that the relevant agencies and localities need to do?
- From now to 2030, the provincial departments and sectors need to take initiative to cooperate with relevant agencies and localities to implement the specific tasks of the plan. The departments and sectors need to focus on promoting the traditional costumes of the ethnic minorities in the province through cultural activities in order to raise the awareness of preserving and promoting the traditional costumes. Specifically, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports is responsible to supervise, speed up, check the implementation and make annual reports to the provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; direct the subordinate agencies to implement the plan
- The provincial Committee for Ethnic Minorities and provincial departments of information and communication; tourism; education and training; finance; planning and investment; and labor - war invalids and social affairs; and provincial Literature and Art Association proactively implement the plan and report periodically to the provincial Department of Culture and Sports. The people's committees of the districts, towns and cities direct the implementation of the plan in accordance with actual local conditions to achieve the highest efficiency.
