Suspending many activities
The province planned many cultural and art activities on the occasion of Reunification Day and Labor Day to create a joyful and festive atmosphere for local people and tourists as well as to promote local tourism. The activities were scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 5, including a seminar on practicing worship of Thien Y A Na Holy Mother, a themed exhibition "Sacred Land of Aloewood", an art show cerebrating the 46th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Ponagar Temple Festival, an art show about the legend of Thien Y A Na Holy Mother, and a Tuong (Vietnam’s classical drama) performance about the Holy Mother.

Among these activities, only the seminar on practicing worship of Thien Y A Na Holy Mother could take place as planned. The themed exhibition "Sacred Land of Aloewood" was brought to a halt some hours after its opening ceremony. The arts shows at 2-4 Square (Nha Trang City) could not take place as originally planned. Ponagar Temple Festival (from May 1 to 4) took place without opening ceremony and festive parts. The festival took place with only a limited number of visitors and pilgrims permitted, and all attendees were requested to obey the regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control. However, since the morning of May 3, Ponagar Temple has closed door and stopped receiving visitors to ensure pandemic prevention and control.
In the context of the unpredictable situation of COVID-19, the suspension of these activities is very necessary to contribute to ensure the safety and health of everyone, as said by Nguyen Thanh Ha, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

On the afternoon of May 2, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a document announcing the decision of the chairman of the provincial People's Committee on COVID-19 prevention and control in the new situation. Complementing the direction of the provincial People's Committee, Ponagar Temple has halted receiving visitors. On the evening of May 2, the interdisciplinary inspection delegation of Nha Trang City’s culture and information sectors made inspections to check the suspension of bars, discos, and karaoke parlors in the city.
Most of the inspected facilities complied with the regulations on COVID-19; only Coffee & Bar Spacy violated the regulations. This entertaining facility was serving around 40 customers, who were not wearing mask, at the time of inspection. The inspection delegation made a record of violation and requested Coffee & Bar Spacy obey the authorities’ instructions on implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
It was observed that, on May 2 evening, many big discos in Nha Trang such as Havana Disco, ZClub Disco (Tran Phu Street), and Lodge Disco (Le Thanh Ton Street) halted their operation. According to Tran Thanh Nha, deputy head of Nha Trang City Bureau of Culture and Information, the inspection delegation will continue to conduct other checks to ensure strict compliance with the authorities’ directions.
