Amid the complicated evolution of COVID-19 pandemic, the agencies under Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports have shown initiative in changing their ways of operation to ensure their normal work and be ready for programs if required.
Many activities
The third and fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence coincided with the expected peak time for cultural and art activities of Khanh Hoa. However, the agencies have changed their schedules to suit different situations of the pandemic. Since the first months of 2021, the provincial Center of Culture and Cinema has held many activities intended to celebrate Lunar New Year 2021. Especially, the center organized some large events, such as art program celebrating the 91st founding anniversary of Vietnam Communist Party and Cultural Day for Vietnamese ethnic groups in Khanh Son District. Besides, the center held some exhibitions on the occasion of the National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam; 131st birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh; 18 music shows; 24 days of roving propaganda; and 390 roving film screenings at some localities over the province.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Monument Preservation in association with other agencies to organize Hung Kings Festival and Ponagar Temple Festival as instructed by the provincial People’s Committee. The center and some agencies also cooperated to hold a seminar on practicing worship of Thien Y A Na Holy Mother. The provincial museum held an exhibition on Vietnam’s folk paintings; and cooperated with other agencies in holding the exhibition "Sacred Land of Aloewood", an exhibition with theme “Gratitude”, and an exhibition about the beauty of Khanh Hoa's nature and life.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Art Theatre restaged the classical drama about Thien Y A Na Holy Mother. Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe held music shows for local people in Khanh Vinh District on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2021; performed in the classical drama about Thien Y A Na Holy Mother and other art shows. The troupe also made more than 20 roving shows for the soldiers and residents on Truong Sa (Spratly) Island District.
Waiting for comeback day
In the first six months of 2021, some programs and events of the provincial cultural sector have been suspended for the safety of communities. However, in an effort to implement some political tasks, the sectors strived to hold propaganda activities in compliance with the situations. In the time to come, the sector will continue organizing the planned activities. The agencies under the sector have planned the series about Nha Trang autumn, Khanh Hoa welcoming New Year, and the periodic contests and festivals such as music show for soldiers, provincial roving propaganda team festival, and province-level contest on cultural heritages.
It is necessary that the cultural agencies flexibly change their ways of operation so that the suspension of cultural and art activities don’t affect their works. “According to the assigned plan, from now to the end of the year, we have many art programs to organize. We requested that our artists limit going to the headquarters, but we have still assigned out artists singing and dancing practice. They only gather at the headquarters for rehearsals,” said Tran Duc Ha, head of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe.
Returning to stages is the desire of most artists, singers and actors, so they are still practicing hard every day, preparing for comeback while complying with COVID-19 regulations.
