The number and quality of the entries showed this is a useful playground for children in the province.

The number and quality of the entries showed this is a useful playground for children in the province.
The awarding ceremony took place without the attendance of the winners due to COVID-19. Only some representatives of schools in Nha Trang City and the leaderships of some bureaus of education and training in the province were invited to attend the awarding ceremony. Nine collective prizes were given to the participating units; 375 gold, silver, bronze, and consolation prizes were offered to the contestants with outstanding paintings.
This year’s themes were still the ones that are familiar to the children such as family, relatives, teachers, friends, leisure activities, homeland, and traffic safety. The common people and things were depicted colorfully and brightly, reflecting the purity of children. Some paintings have impressed the viewers include the ones about a festival in the highland region of Chung Khanh Han (Ninh Phung 1 Primary School, Ninh Hoa Town), the homeland of Hoang An Thuy (Can Cu Cam Ranh Primary-Junior School), village path of Le Nguyen Hoang Vuong (Cam An Bac Primary School, Cam Lam District); family gathering on Tet occasion of Nguyen Mai Huyen Dieu (Tran Quoc Tuan Secondary School, Van Ninh District), and the soldier visiting a village of Nguyen Phuong Ngan, Thai Nguyen Junior School, Nha Trang), etc. Especially, this year, many contestants created paintings relating to COVID-19 pandemic.
The contest received entries from November 10, 2020 to February 28, 2021. 41,503 entries of preschool children and pupils of junior high schools over the province were sent to the contest. Huong Sen Nursery School, Nha Trang is one of the units which are often awarded high prizes from the contest. The school often holds drawing contests at class-level and school-level to choose the most outstanding drawings for the province-level contest.
The contest is organized to discover and give training to the children and pupils with a talent for fine arts. This also aims to promote fine arts activities among children and pupils. Through the contest, the organization board hopes to create a useful playground where the children and pupils can enjoy leisure activities and show their abilities.
According to painter Tran Ha, chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Literature and Art, head of the 2021 Fine Arts Awards, this year’s entries had good artistic quality, clear themes, and harmonious layouts with vibrant colors. The contestants showed their creativity with creative brushstrokes. The paintings were created with many painting materials, for example, crayons, markers, gouache, etc.
Also at the awarding ceremony, the leader of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports launched the provincial Fine Arts Awards 2022.
