Displaying historical artifacts
The traditional house of Khanh Son District's armed forces was built on an area of about 200m2 in the style of long houses of the Raglai. The altar of Uncle Ho is solemnly placed inside the traditional house. About 100 documents, photos, and artifacts are displayed in the house, such as an electric map of a battle in To Hap Valley, types of guns, bullets, weapons, bowls, water containers, and hammocks. The exhibits help today’s generation partly know how difficult the life conditions of the soldiers in the past were. Photos of the leaders of the Party, State and army over the years are solemnly hung on the wall. In addition, there are photos of the heroes of the armed forces of Khanh Son District.
The exhibits in the traditional house were collected from many sources. Many of them were presented by the veteran who fought in Khanh Son in the past, according to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Le Dinh Thao, Commander of Khanh Son District Military Headquarters.
Teaching young generations about tradition
The traditional house of Khanh Son District's armed forces is the only traditional house of armed forces in Khanh Hoa Province. In fact, Khanh Son had a traditional house managed by the district Center of Culture, Information and Sports. However, that traditional house was old and not in good conditions. In 2019, the district Military Headquarters suggested building a house of typical models. Considering the actual situation and wishes of local people, the District Party Committee and People's Committee decided to build the traditional house of armed forces. This traditional house will be a place to teach people, especially students and Youth Union members about the district’s tradition.
As said by Mau Thai Cu, Secretary of Khanh Son District Party Committee, the construction of the traditional house of the district armed forces has partly met the aspirations of the local people of all classes. This is also the wish of many veterans and leaders of the district over the years. The district will direct relevant units to add more artifacts, pictures, and documents to the traditional house. The schools should hold field trips for their students to visit the traditional house. Besides, the units in the district should hold activities at the traditional house on the occasions of important ceremonies. This place can also become a tourist attraction.
The district’s Military Headquarters has planned to train docents for the traditional house and arrange soldiers to instruct visitors in offering incense and flowers.
