Khanh Hoa Province’s photography strived to overcome the difficulties in 2021 to finish the year with successes. Many photographers of the province won prizes at domestic and international contests; the members of the provincial Photography Branch kept working actively to create quality photos.
Achievements of efforts
In the first months of 2021, when the fourth wave of COVID-19 didn’t break out yet, Photographic Artist Ha Binh of Khanh Hoa travelled to some provinces in the country to take photos. A black and white photo of an elderly woman which Binh captured in Phan Rang City (Binh Thuan Province) earned him a bronze prize at an international photography contest organized in Vietnam by Vietnam Photographic Artists’ Association and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
Some other photographic artists of Khanh Hoa also worked hard and created quality works in 2021. For example, the photo named Expectation by Photographic Artist Nguyen Van Man was given FIAP bronze medal at an international artistic photo contest held in Ho Chi Minh City. Nguyen Van Dong with his photo “Duong pho mua lu” (streets in flood season) won International Association of Art Photographers (IAAP) gold medal. “Nhung chiec bong” (shadows) of Nguyen Hoai Van was awarded Photographic Society of America (PSA) gold medal. Do Tuan Ngoc won Santa Maria gold medal with his photo “Vu dieu giat luoi tren song Nhu Y” (Net washing dance on Nhu Y River). Additionally, two works of Do Tuan Ngoc won honorable mention at the 29th FIAP Color Biennial held in France.
Encouraging efforts
Besides taking part in the filed trips held by the provincial Association of Literature and Art and Photography Branch, the members of the branch showed initiative and sent their works to domestic and international photo contests. 15 works of 11 Khanh Hoa’s photographers were selected to take part in the 26th Artistic Photo Festival of the Southern Central and Highland Regions.
Due to COVID-19, in 2021, Khanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Art and Photography Branch held only two field trips to Quang Ngai Province, Dak Nong Province, and Lam Dong Province. The number of achievements of Khanh Hoa photographers last year was also fewer than the previous years due to the impacts of the pandemic’s complicated evolution. Painter Tran Ha, head of Khanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Art, highly appreciated the efforts of the province’s photographers in trying to overcome difficulties, create quality works and win high prizes.
Although the results which Khanh Hoa photographers gained last year didn’t totally meet their expectations, the year of 2021 marked the special efforts of the photographers in the province and the hallmarks of Khanh Hoa’s photography amid the pandemic.
