Turning Nha Trang into film city

These days, movie lovers are paying much attention to the events that have already taken place and will take place in Nha Trang City. All these things are contributing to the realization of the dream of turning Nha Trang into a film city in Vietnam.

With the success of the awards ceremony of the 19th Kite Awards held in Nha Trang in 2022, the public has paid more attention to cinema activities in the coastal city. Some domestic filmmakers have come to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to find artistic ideas and movie sets for their film projects.

On April 1, within the framework of the inauguration ceremony of Do Theater (Bai Tien area, Vinh Hoa Ward, Nha Trang), a ceremony was held to announce the cooperation agreement on the annual organization of Kite Awards between Khanh Hoa Province with Vietnam Cinema Association - Vega City Joint Stock Company (owned by KDI Holdings– the investor of Vega City Nha Trang resort- entertainment-art complex). Accordingly, the annual awards ceremony of Kite Awards will be held at Do Theater, starting from 2023. The event marked an important milestone between the three parties in building the image and brand of the locality and promoting tourism development of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa through cinema.

As said by Nguyen Van Thien, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, any edition of Kite Awards held in Nha Trang will serve as an opportunity to introduce and promote the images of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa and its local people. During the event, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa will be a rendezvous for many well-known artists in the field of cinema and other art forms. The influence of artists on the public are expected to promote local tourism. The awards ceremony of Kite Awards will also help to enrich cultural activities of the province through film screenings, exchanges between artists and audience, and social activities of the artists, etc.

On April 6, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a dispatch on the implementation of the plan of the joint program to develop Vietnam's tourism brand through cinema in 2023 which will be organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Nha Trang at the end of May. According to the plan of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the program will include activities such as photo exhibition, film screenings, a forum joined by 300 domestic and international delegates, and the international conference to promote investment and develop tourism brand through cinema in 2023. Besides, a music festival will take place at 2-4 Square (Nha Trang) on May 27 nigh with expected 10,000 audience. The filmmakers participating in the program will also go on field trips to the scenic spots and cultural - historical monuments in the province.

The public-private cooperation between local authorities and organizations, businesses and individuals is gradually making the dream of turning Nha Trang into a film city into reality.
