Nha Trang City to be sparkling on opening night of Sea Festival  2023

Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2023 is due to kick off at Square 2-4 (Nha Trang City) on the evening of June 3 under the theme "Khanh Hoa - Bright Aspiration". The program is organized by Viet Thuong Music Company and Kpro Multimedia (Ho Chi Minh City). In a recent interview with Khanh Hoa Newspaper, Nguyen Van Khoa, general director of the program said, the opening night will be a festive night filled with spectacular sound and lighting effects and many new and impressive things for locals and visitors.

Love for home town 

-    This is the first time Viet Thuong Music Company and Kpro Multimedia have cooperated to organize Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival, but you have participated in many large-scaled programs in Nha Trang before. Can you provide some information about this?

Viet Thuong Music and Kpro Multimedia have proved our competence at many nation-level and international level events. In Khanh Hoa Province, I and some members of the organization crew participated in Miss Universe 2008 as stage directors. I was the general director of the closing ceremony of Visit Vietnam Year - Nha Trang, Color of the Sea 2019; two programs in Ba Ria-Vung Tau in 2017 and 2018; many art programs in Ho Chi Minh City from 2016 to 2022; Oscar awards of world tourism industry in Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province) in 2017. Besides, I took part in the organization of many art programs in the provinces and cities of Tra Vinh, Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, Da Nang, etc. Over the past 15 years, Viet Thuong Music and Kpro Multimedia have cooperated to organize many large programs and events in the country, which received positive responses from the public.

-    Reportedly, the leaderships of Viet Thuong Music and Kpro Multimedia are Khanh Hoa people who are working in Ho Chi Minh City. This time, returning to the home town to organize Sea Festival 2023, what do you personally want to bring to audience?

- We want to contribute positive things to the province through the organization of Sea Festival 2023. We have put our efforts in all processes of organization. We can feel our love for the home town during the preparation for the opening program of Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2023, which is quite different from when we organize programs in other localities. Through the festival, we wish to express our love and show our competence, experience gained over the years and bring audience a festive atmosphere with impressive and emotional performances.

- This is the 10th edition of Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival. What are the highlights of the opening program of the 2023 festival compared to the previous editions?

- In order to make script for the opening program of the 2023 Sea Festival, the whole crew had reviewed carefully the previous editions and the 370th anniversary of construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province held successfully in last April. We came up with new ideas for the 2023 Sea Festival. For example, the stage will be put up at 2-4 Square instead of the front area of the provincial Conference Center (46 Tran Phu Street) like the previous nine festivals. A part of the stage will be erected on the beach. The stage is 102m in width and over 30m in depth; floor height is from 1m to 3.6m. This is a much larger stage than the previous sea festivals. It is very much difficult to erect a stage at beach; however, this will produce spectacular and dazzling effects. The change in stage space has also led to changes in the way artistic ideas are expressed.

In addition, we have also got many new ideas for the opening art program on the basis of a thorough learning of local cultural characteristics and taste for art of local people. We incorporate the most typical features and beauty of the coastal land into the program. The opening night will feature many Vietnamese artists.

- The theme of the opening program of Sea Festival 2023 is "Khanh Hoa - Bright Aspiration". Can you give some information about the "brightness" in the program?

- We will use a lot of technologies to create layered lighting for the program. We will double lighting equipment compared to the previous sea festivals and arrange them in an olympic style so that all 4 sides of 2-4 Square are brightly lit. Some technologies used in the opening program include mapping; augmented reality; extended reality, etc.

The opening performance of the opening program is the combination between lighting effects and performances of hot air balloons, parasailing, paragliding, yachts on sea, light kites flying in the sky. At the end of the opening program, there will a 15-minute light show of nearly 2,000 drones. The opening program takes place in 90 minutes and is broadcast live on VTV1, featuring 700 professional and amateur artists, singers and actors.
