Collection of Khanh Son lithophones recognized as national treasure

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on January 18 signed a decision recognizing 29 artifacts and groups of artifacts, which are being kept at museums, preservation centers, and historical and cultural monuments, etc. throughout the country as national treasures. The collection of Khanh Son lithophones dated back to approximately 2,500 - 3,000 years ago, being preserved at Khanh Hoa Museum, is among the 29 national treasures.

The collection of Khanh Son lithophones comprises of set A and set B with 12 stones of different sizes. The collection was found by Bo Bo Ren (Raglai) in Doc Gao Mountain, Trung Hap Commune, Khanh Son District (now To Hap Town, Khanh Son District) and was given to the local authority later. Afterwards, the lithophones were handed to musician Luu Huu Phuoc, director of Vietnam music research institute and chairman of Khanh Son lithophone scientific council, and was preserved at the Vietnam National Institute for Culture and Arts Studies eventually. Tens of music performances have been created for the two sets of Khanh Son lithophones so far. 

The collection of Khanh Son lithophones was handed over to Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports and Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum on the occasion of the 370th anniversary of Khanh Hoa Province's construction and development.
