Making changes for street art shows

H.N

After a time searching for changes for street art shows in line with the night-time economic development project, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture has suggested some specific changes.

Trying to hold exciting night street art shows

Since the beginning of June, the street art shows organized by the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center in the park opposite Tue Tinh Street (Nha Trang City) on Wednesday and Friday evenings have attracted a lot of locals and tourists. The diversity of genres such as singing, dancing, instrumental performances, hip hop, “don ca tai tu”, magic, circus, roller skating, and skateboarding as well as small-scale competitions among the participating teams increased the appeal of the shows. Each show had an MC who also made the shows more exciting through gift-winning games for the audience. Previously, each show only featured the performance of a club. Now, each show features different genres and recreational and interactive activities for audience, which makes the shows more enjoyable ones, according to Nguyen Xuan Linh (Da Tuong Street, Nha Trang).

In order to improve the street art activities, the Provincial Culture and Cinema Center has established a group to produce videos to promote the activities in advance, during and after each show, according to Nguyen Khac Duy, deputy director of the center. The center plans to post performance schedules and programs on the center's website and social media sites; equip more facilities for street art performances; create new design for the stage backdrop. The center has also formed new blubs of different genres and made arrangements for the clubs’ members’ rehearsal to ensure the quality of each performance.

The center is working with 3 Bai Choi clubs and arranging their performance schedules at the park near 2-4 Square, Nha Trang City. The center has also refurbished the area of Bai Choi shows and developed local Bai Choi clubs and Bai Choi activities in schools to discover new talent. In the future, the center will propose organizing public contests and festivals with modern content and help Bai Choi clubs have many shows at other places besides 2-4 Square. Additionally, the center will focus on combining culture, cinema and tourism acivities to further promote the image of Khanh Hoa to tourists.

Continuing to change and improve quality

The aforementioned activities are part of the plan to organize street art performances associated with the project to develop the night economy in Nha Trang City proposed by the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports. Accordingly, street art performance activities of the Provincial Culture and Cinema Center and the Provincial Traditional Arts Theater will be invested to improve the performances’ quality. The Provincial Traditional Arts Theater will focus on activities to introduce Bai Choi intangible cultural heritage; hold exchange activities and topical talks about performing arts, traditional costumes, and characteristics of traditional art forms; create QR Code to introduce cultural values of the traditional art forms to tourists.

As said by Le Van Hoa, deputy director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, improving the quality of street art activities aims to continue preserving and promoting unique cultural and art values and typical traditional festivals; create new, unique cultural products representing the province; linked street art activities to night economic activities to create appealing tourism products.
