Recently, Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Heritage Preservation in cooperation with some units organized Nha Trang City’s contest on cultural heritages 2024 at Vo Thi Sau Junior High School (Nha Trang City). The contest lasting over 150 minutes helped to deepen the pupils’ understanding and sense of responsibility in preserving and promoting the values of the provincial and national cultural heritages and historical sites.

In the introduction category, the team from Le Thanh Liem Junior High School impressed the audience with a short performance presented in a theatrical format telling a story about a newcomer being warmly welcome to the school by other pupils. The team from Vo Thi Sau Junior High School based their introduction on the touching story of national heroine Vo Thi Sau to show and inspire pride in each pupil of the school. Tran Hung Dao Junior High School team presented a performance featuring the national hero whom their school was named after. In the performance, the hero made a time travel to the present day to impart wise words and inspiring messages to encourage pupils to study hard and improve themselves. The image of the valiant Tay Son female general was vividly portrayed by the team from Bui Thi Xuan Junior High School on stage.

In the category of answering questions about the world heritage sites in Vietnam, national historical and scenic sites in Khanh Hoa, the cultural heritage law, and provincial-level historical sites and landmarks and the category and category of identifying heritage sites through images, all the four teams showed their knowledge and understanding of various types of heritages and scenic sites recognized by UNESCO, such as Phuc Giang School woodblocks, My Son Cham Monument, Dien Khanh Temple of Literature, Hoa Diem archaeological site, Phu Cang Communal House, Truong Tay Communal House and Mausoleum, Hung VuongTemple in Nha Trang, C235 Ship memorial site, and Mui Doi-Hon Dau scenic area. In the talent category, the teams performed their talent with the extracts from national art forms of Tuong, Bai Choi, folk songs of the nation’s 3 regions, and Cai Luong.

The contest gave the pupils pleasure as they had an opportunity to learn and show their knowledge of the monuments, scenic spots and cultural heritages of the country and their homeland Khanh Hoa. “Our team only had 2 weeks to prepare for the contest. With what we have shown, we feel very happy that we contributed to promoting the heritages and monuments and could express our love and inspire our friends as well as other audience with a sense of responsibility for the heritages and monuments", said Pham Hoang Tram Anh (member of the team from Vo Thi Sau Junior High School).

This was the first time Vo Thi Sau Junior High School has hosted the city-level contest on cultural heritages. The contest was a useful and meaningful extracurricular activity for all the teachers and students of Vo Thi Sau Junior High School as well as the other participating schools.
As said by Hoang Quy, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Monument Preservation, the contest aims to grow the love for the homeland and the country, the pride in the cultural identities, monuments and cultural heritage of Vietnam; build pupils’ awareness of cultural heritages; introduce and promote the images of Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa to tourists at home and abroad. The center will cooperate with other localities in the province to organize other local contests on cultural heritages to prepare for the province-level contest.
