Pupils reading books at Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival 2025 in Khanh Hoa |
Organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival in Khanh Hoa provided the participating pupils an opportunity to read many meaningful books, especially ones about the nation’s history. One of the highlights of the activity was the introduction of the photo book namely Heroic moments, which records valuable images of the great historical moment of the nation. “Learning about the stories behind each photo in the photo, I admire and feel grateful to the previous generations even more", said Nguyen Minh Anh, a pupil at Le Thanh Ton High School.
At the festival, the children excitingly participated in a game simulating the Great Victory of Spring 1975. Dressing as soldiers, the children participated in a simulation of the battle to liberate Saigon and the southern region, which helped to arouse the children's interest in the nation’s history and their love for the nation. As said by Pham Thao Anh, a pupil at Thai Nguyen Junior High School, the activities of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival 2025 helps the pupils remember the knowledge in books better.
According to Chu Minh Phuong, secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union, in the current context of strong development of technology, maintaining and spreading reading habit is significant. Books are not only a source of knowledge but also a place to nurture children’s soul and personality. Therefore, this year, the organizing committee of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival 2025 in Khanh Hoa combined book introductions with practical activities in order to encourage the children to participate in the festival and learn the nation’s history more deeply.

Children enjoy experiential activities at Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival 2025 |
The activities at the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival 2025 showed that visual and experiential activities make reading and history learning more vivid, interesting and attractive. Reportedly, this was the first time experiential activities have been included in Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival. “In the future, we will promote the effectiveness of this method in order to spread reading culture among pupils through creative and vivid forms such as dramatizing books, simulating historical events, and exchanges with authors and experts. This aims to contribute to nurturing a young generation with a love for reading, comprehension of history, and ability to appreciate and protect the nation’s cultural heritages," said Phuong.
