H.N

Entering its 6th year, Khanh Hoa Province's Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has affirmed its significant role and meaning in helping to spread reading movement in schools. Just three months after its launch, the contest received thousands of entries from numerous pupils, many of which were meticulously prepared and of high quality.

Encouraging pupils to read books

The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest provided an opportunity for pupils in the province to show their love of books as well as helped nurture love for the nation and compatriots. The book about wars by author Bao Ninh gave Tran Ngo Xuan Quynh (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted - Dong Hai Ward) deep feelings about the dedication of revolutionary soldiers who devoted and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation. "The 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest gave me and my friends a chance to share our love for books. I believe that similar contests like this will encourage pupils to read books," said Xuan Quynh.

Le Nguyen Uyen Nghi (Thai Nguyen Junior High School, Nha Trang Ward) chose a book about the journey of a young army medic going to South Sudan to carry out a United Nations peacekeeping mission. In that African country, the army medic discovered beauty of human bonding through love and the deep meaning of the word "peace." "I feel happy that I picked a book that was a great fit for me for the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025. The character in the book has truly inspired me. I will focus on my studying so that I can do useful things for my country. For me, the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is a source of inspiration encouraging me to read books and learn about books," said Uyen Nghi.

Launched in late March and concluding on June 20, the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest received over 15,000 entries from pupils at 169 primary, junior high schools and high schools across the province. The organizing committee selected and awarded 58 first, second, third, consolation prizes, and special prizes to contestants with outstanding entries. Additionally, 8 high-quality entries were selected to send to the final round of the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Overall, Khanh Hoa Province's Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025 was well responded by the public and saw a notable quality of entries. Many entries demonstrated the entrants’ effort through careful wording, meticulous source citation and good illustrations.

For the contest to be more successful

According to the leadership of Khanh Hoa Provincial Library, this year's Reading Culture Ambassador Contest met its target and requirements, but there are still many aspects that need to be addressed to make future events more attractive and of higher quality. "In order to promote the encouraging results of this year’s contest and make contest more successful in the future, schools and teachers need carefully study the regulations and instruct pupils to produce entries that meet the requirements and correct basic errors before submission. It is necessary to popularize the contest more widely, apply new organization formats and information technology. Additionally, a stronger cooperation between the sector of education and training and the sector of culture is essential to make the contest a sustainable brand in school reading movement," said Dinh Xuan Huong, director of the library.

The 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is an activity for pupils at all levels throughout the province, aiming to encourage pupils to read books, spread a love for reading and develop culture of reading in the community. Each contest has helped further strengthen reading movement in schools, affirming its role as a useful intellectual playground for pupils.
