Bringing books closer to readers

H.N

In 2025, Khanh Hoa Provincial Library has organized a diverse range of activities to bring books closer to the public, especially after the merger of former Khanh Hoa Province and former Ninh Thuan Province. These efforts yielded positive results, contributing to the promotion of reading culture in the province.

 Diverse activities

Vu Khanh Chi often takes her daughter, a third-grader, to the children's reading room at the Provincial Library (Nha Trang Ward) on weekends. Here, the mother and daughter select suitable books and read books together. Khanh Chi cherishes the time spent on reading with her child, discovering her daughter’s interests, and sharing their opinions about the books. “My daughter loves reading, so despite my busy schedule, I try my best to arrange time to read with her. The Provincial Library offers a suitable space and a rich collection of books. New books are regularly added,” said Chi.

Throughout the year, the Provincial Library effectively implemented book rotation activities to local libraries and donated books to libraries of agencies and schools. Mobile book services to institutions like schools, prisons, and armed forces units in the province created an exciting atmosphere, allowing the people to access a large and diverse selection of books. The Provincial Library also focused on serving the province’s ceremonies and events such as Lunar New Year, the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Provincial Party Committee, the 50th anniversary of Khanh Hoa Liberation Day, the 50th anniversary of National Reunification, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, and the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
The Provincial Library also actively cooperated with various agencies, units and localities in and outside the province to organize events to promote reading culture such as: the Lunar New Year Press Festival, a series of activities responding to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the provincial children's book storytelling contest, the award ceremony for the provincial reading culture ambassador contest, a series of summer activities for children, and the 1st Khanh Hoa’s reading family contest 2025.

Enhancing the Quality of Reader Services

According to Dinh Xuan Huong, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Library, 2025 marks a particularly important milestone for the library. The organizational merger is an opportunity for the library to restructure, standardize and better the quality of services provided to the people across the province. The Provincial Library has tried to maintain stability and strongly develop its specialized activities, ranging from on-site reader services and book rotation to local libraries, organizing events to spread reading culture, accelerating digital transformation, digitizing resources, building an AI chatbot, and developing online services. All these efforts aim to transform the library into a modern, friendly, and community-oriented space for knowledge.

In the time to come, the Provincial Library will continue to enhance the quality of reader services and strongly and practically promote the development of reading culture. The unit will focus on intensifying digital transformation; continue to effectively implement the application of technology in management, specialized activities, and online search services. Besides, the Library will also prioritize diversifying the forms of public contribution for library activities; increase partnerships with other libraries in the national public library system to enhance information resources for readers.

In 2025, Khanh Hoa Provincial Library has served over 2 million reader visits. The library also issued 5,486 new reader cards and renewed 2,735 cards; circulated 111,590 books to 278 grassroots units in the province.
