Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has recently approved the project on management, protection, and promotion of the value of the intangible cultural heritage namely the art of pottery-making of Cham people for the period 2025-2028 and subsequent years.
The project focuses on the community, relevant state agencies, and organizations involved in protecting and promoting the value of the art of pottery-making of Cham people. Implementation will take place in Bau Truc and Hamlet 12 (Ninh Phuoc Commune), where Cham pottery profession is practiced.

The project aims to remove the art of pottery-making of Cham people from the list of intangible cultural heritages in need of urgent safeguarding by 2026; build up product quality standards, register "Cham Pottery" trademark for Bau Truc Cham pottery products, complete the planning for the cultural preservation of Bau Truc pottery village and the planning for Bau Truc pottery craft village community tourism development model by 2027. From 2028 to 2030 and in the following years, the goal is to inscribe the art of pottery-making of Cham people as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The estimated total cost for the project is more than VND205 billion. For generations, pottery making has been integral to the economic welfare and socio-cultural identity of Cham people in Bau Truc village. The art of pottery-making of Cham people was inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2022. The implementation of the project on management, protection, and promotion of the value of the intangible cultural heritage namely the art of pottery-making of Cham people is necessary and urgent for the preservation of this cultural heritage.
