According to Ly Hoang Long, photographer and curator of the photo exhibition, usual creative camps often organize large group field trips, which frequently result in overlapping angles. The “Khanh Hoa – a Journey of Four Bays” project began with a careful selection of photographers and assigned each selected artist a specific bay. Photographers worked independently across the four designated bays of Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Van Phong, and Vinh Hy.

While Khanh Hoa is widely known for its beaches, the “Khanh Hoa – a Journey of Four Bays” project aims to establish a distinct brand identity helping the public clearly identify the specific geographic, natural, and cultural characteristics of each bay through newspaper, exhibitions, photo books, and a website expected to launch in the near future. In addition to coastal landscapes, participating photographers captured daily life, traditional crafts, and local architecture. With the artistic works, the project aims to become a bridge connecting domestic and international visitors with the cultural values and daily routines of Khanh Hoa's coastal residents.

According to Ace Le, Editor-in-Chief of Art Nation and art advisor to the exhibition, “Khanh Hoa – a Journey of Four Bays” begins with creating identity and systematizing local values and then transforms them into a structured positioning strategy. In this context, photography not only captures beauty but also serves as a language of positioning, creating visual memories and step-by-step forming a visual heritage.

Building visual heritage
Thai Thi Le Hang, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that “Khanh Hoa – a Journey of Four Bays” is created on three value layers: nature, people and culture, and the future of Khanh Hoa. Nature forms the foundation of regional identity, while the ocean sustains local livelihoods, beliefs, and culture across generations. New drivers in infrastructure, the marine economy, tourism, and connectivity are opening a new development space for Khanh Hoa.
Brand positioning extends beyond public perception of Khanh Hoa, it lies on converting identity into tangible tourism experiences. Through the displayed photos, four-bay tour itineraries, cultural and artistic products, sports, and cuisine, the initiative aims to transform identity into tourist experiences. As identity becomes experiences, culture and tourism become resources to a new status for Khanh Hoa as a regional and international marine cultural destination.
